February 13, 2008 mDigger is updating its terminology to more accurately reflect the nature of its service.

In order to more accurately reflect the true nature of our service and to accommodate pending upgrades to our client and web applications, we are making a few changes in the terminology that we use within our service and on our website. The changes are as follows:

  • Our catalog now contains mClips (as opposed to channels). An mClip is a defined selection of web content that we clip and dynamically update from a particular source.
  • mClips are used to form channels.
  • Channels are what users see on their devices. Users must open or click on channels in order to view specific content.
  • A user’s Favorites list within the iPhone web application will now be called “dashboard”.
  • A user’s Favorites list within our client applications will now be called “album”.
  • In the coming weeks the user interfaces for all of applications will be unified and all will contain both a “dashboard” and an “album”.

January 2, 2008 mDigger lets users create channels from favorite blog feeds.

January 21, 2007 -Beta version of Brand New Mobile Internet Service, mDigger

San Jose, California-based Quarta Mobile, Inc. is launching the beta version of a new mobile Internet service on January 20, 2007. The service, called mDigger is free to users worldwide and transforms traditional Internet-based content into a format ideal for mobile devices. The result is a rich, mobile-friendly Web experience.

Users no longer have to wait for their favorite websites to “go mobile.” The mDigger Service offers a dynamic solution for the “mobilization” of such sites and other Web information resources by using special applications to automate information search, selection, transformation and presentation processes. Each web resource is presented within the Service as a separate channel. Users can personalize their experience by subscribing to all the channels they want or by developing their own channels.

The mDigger Service works with nearly any mobile device (smart phones, PDA’s, etc.). It requires no synchronization with desktop PC’s, and is easy to update. Information may be viewed online or offline, either directly with the device’s Web browser or with the aid of a client application. The Service saves on traffic, enables quick download times and displays Web content in a format tailored to the screen resolution and navigation requirements of the user’s particular mobile device.

mDigger is not just for mobile device end-users. The Service also actively cooperates with Website and Web information resource owners who wish to make content available, commercially or otherwise, to the mobile device user market.

In addition, mDigger Service supports open standards and encourages developers to make use of its free tools and forum to develop and test their own applications for the Service.

Users may sign up for the service at www.mdigger.com. Find out more about Quarta Mobile at www.quartamobile.com.

October 24, 2007 – mDigger Reader for iPhone and iPod Touch has been included in Apple’s online Web Application Catalog

San jose, ca, nov. 7, 2007: mDigger Reader has been included in Apple’s new online catalog of web applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch at http://www.apple.com/webapps/news/mdiggerreaderforiphone.html. mDigger provides iPhone and iPod Touch users with free access to key information and content from websites and other Internet sources.

mDigger Reader helps extend the functionality of Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch in style. Users may choose rich and up-to-date content from an online Catalog containing thousands of Internet sources. They select exactly what information they want to see; mDigger filters out the rest.

mDigger also provides free development tools to help users create channels tailored to meet their own specific needs. Read more at http://www.mdigger.com/developers.aspx.

February 26, 2007 - Pocket PC Thoughts writes about mDigger Reader.

Pocket PC Thoughts contributing editor Nurhisham Hussein writes: “If you haven't heard of mDigger, think Avantgo with the ability to make your own channels. Ok, to do that does require a bit of programming skill but at least the potential is there. mDigger was launched as a beta service a few months back and like Avantgo, user registration is free. What really distinguishes this from Avantgo is that mDigger is a cross-platform service, and includes PDAs, smartphones (in the non-Microsoft sense), and PCs (all flavours of Win XP and Vista; Mac and Linux versions on the way)… “

January 24, 2007 - Jon Westfall of Pocket PC Thoughts covers mDigger.

Jon Westfall, contributing editor of Pocket PC Thoughts writes the following about mDigger: “Yet another way to make content more accessible on your mobile device comes in the form of mDigger. For free, users can access PDA friendly news from a favorites link, no software required (always a nice thing). If you feel uninformed and need more information - perhaps give mDigger a spin and let us know what you think.”
